Mission statement

Mathla’s mission is to empower Deaf communities, learners, teachers, families, and partners to build and share high-quality Arabic Sign Language resources — with Deaf-led review, clear consent, and tools that turn collective knowledge into learning, belonging, and better everyday communication.

What success looks like

Success is a child finding the right sign for a school word; a patient explaining symptoms with confidence; a teacher assigning a learning path; a Deaf reviewer protecting linguistic truth; a ministry discovering a partner for accessibility workshops; and, over time, conversations that flow without waiting for an interpreter who cannot always be in the room.

Why it matters

Qualified interpreters and teachers are essential — and still finite. When communication fails, opportunity fails with it: education, employment, healthcare, culture, and civic life. Mathla organizes people and verified sign knowledge so accessibility is not left to chance.

How we work

We combine community contribution, professional and Deaf review, structured learning, campaigns, and organization portals. Technology serves the community; it does not replace Deaf expertise. Arabic and English resources remain separate. Consent is versioned and specific so trust can scale.

Our promise

We will keep the platform bilingual (Arabic and English), respectful of regional sign variation, transparent about how videos may be used, and open to partners who want inclusion outcomes — not extractive data collection.
